Job Summary

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill a tenure-track faculty position in the School of Social Work. As an Assistant Professor of Teaching and Education, you will be responsible for teaching clinical courses at the MSW level, designing curriculum, and building an integrative curriculum into the School's strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach clinical courses at the MSW level, including courses on anti-oppressive practice and critical pedagogy
  • Design and implement curriculum that aligns with the School's strategic vision and priorities
  • Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations, including the Syilx Okanagan nation
  • Contribute to the development of the School's research agenda and publications
  • Participate in departmental and faculty service, including committee work and mentoring
Requirements
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree required; Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field preferred
  • Experience in clinical practice and teaching, with a strong record of anti-oppressive practice and critical pedagogy
  • Ability to work effectively with Indigenous communities and organizations
  • Strong research and publication record, with a focus on social work and Indigenous issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including Indigenous students
  • Knowledge of critical anti-colonial and anti-oppressive pedagogies
  • Experience with curriculum design and implementation
  • Strong commitment to social justice and equity
