Job Summary

The Rotational Cargo Agent is responsible for accurately entering all freight shipments into the computer database, producing loads for all cargo aircraft, and contacting customers regarding all aspects of freight shipments. This role requires the ability to work efficiently as part of a team and independently, with strong organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure excellent customer care when handling customer calls/inquiries, accepting cargo, collecting payment, providing quotes, and in any other customer situations.
  2. Contact customers regarding incoming freight, required purchase orders, or monies due in a professional and courteous manner.
  3. Accurately produce all freight loads for company aircraft according to the prescribed aircraft weight and balance prior to scheduled departure times.
  4. Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing freight.
  5. Accurately enter all incoming freight into freight tracking computer software system.
  6. Cargo acceptance and inventory control.
  7. Assist with tracking of delayed baggage.
  8. Complete Daily Sales Reports and any other required paperwork.
  9. Follow company policies and procedures when accepting dangerous goods.
  10. Perform daily facility opening and closing procedures.
  11. Perform and uphold Wasaya's Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers.
  12. Any other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Skills and Qualifications

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  2. Previous shipping and receiving experience are an asset.
  3. A valid class G driver's license is required.
  4. Previous airline experience is an asset.
  5. Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklift trucks.
  6. Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  7. Basic mathematical skills.
  8. Knowledge of filling out waybills is an asset.
  9. Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
  10. Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
  11. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  12. Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and the use of the internet and email.
  13. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  14. Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  15. The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset.
  16. Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.

Working Conditions

  1. Overtime as required.
  2. Travel may be required.
  3. Transportation to and from YPL (out of YQT) is provided, if needed.
  4. Food and Accommodations are provided (rotational work).
  5. Weekend work may be required.
  6. Hazards associated with trade.
  7. May be exposed to loud noise, dirt, oil, and fumes.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs; repetitively.
  2. Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
