About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Services Technician to join our Network Engineering team at the University of Toronto Mississauga. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, and fault remediation of complex local area, wireless, and wide area network infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting detailed analysis of system performance to inform management decision making
  • Configuring virtual networks and virtual storage on multiple vendor-specific platforms
  • Analyzing and installing networking equipment
  • Testing and configuring local area network equipment
  • Updating network topology diagrams
  • Conducting needs assessments to determine end-user technical requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of three years of proven, hands-on experience supporting a large, complex campus network
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, including Link aggregation, VLANs, Spanning Tree, and its variations
  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders, in ceilings, and in mechanical spaces
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
