Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at WSP Canada. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of transportation, municipal, institutional, and commercial building projects.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, circuiting, emergency lighting, grounding, bonding, emergency power, lightning protection, lighting systems, lighting controls and zoning, control sequence of operation, fire protection, fire alarm and life safety systems.
You will have the opportunity to work with autonomy on some of Canada's most future-forward engineering projects and mentor junior engineers and EITs in engineering drawings and design production.

The successful candidate will have a minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5-7 years' experience in designing electrical systems for buildings, transportation, commercial, and industrial projects.
The estimated salary for this position is between $90,000 and $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, circuiting, emergency lighting, grounding, bonding, emergency power, lightning protection, lighting systems, lighting controls and zoning, control sequence of operation, fire protection, fire alarm and life safety systems
- Mentor junior engineers and EITs in engineering drawings and design production
- Work with autonomy on some of Canada's most future-forward engineering projects
- Perform interdisciplinary coordination with Lighting, Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Site Services, Signaling, Architectural, Project Management, and Construction Management disciplines
- Review and seal lighting design and control systems for building permit and construction
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5-7 years' experience in designing electrical systems for buildings, transportation, commercial, and industrial projects
- Knowledge of utility companies, authorities having jurisdiction, applicable codes and standards such as Ontario Building Code (OBC), CSA, ASHRAE, IESNA, IEEE, OESC, CEC, NFPA, etc.
- Thorough understanding of project management technical requirements to prepare schedules and resourcing
- Thorough familiarity with software used for engineering studies - arc flash, load, fault and coordination studies, lighting, grounding, etc.
