Senior Structural and Foundation Design Engineer

Oversee cost-effective structural engineering designs from studies to detail design, tender, and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards. Perform analysis and design of concrete foundations and steel structures for mining and industrial projects. As the discipline lead or point of contact on a project, supervise the work of other engineers and designers on the project team. Ensure that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met. Work with the project team in a multi-disciplinary environment, reporting on progress and deliverables, and provide staffing plans and estimated remaining effort to complete the work. Perform site visits and inspect existing structures. Perform evaluation and analysis of existing structures for modifications and additions and propose reinforcement solutions. A Bachelor's degree in Structural engineering from a recognized University is required. 10+ years of experience in structural design of mineral processing plants, material handling, and industrial projects is necessary. Thorough understanding of the design of various building structures and systems for mining projects is required. Proficiency in design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, and various types of heavy concrete foundations for buildings and equipment is necessary. An in-depth knowledge and demonstrated experience in design of mining facilities, with a proven ability to conceptualize project layouts, and optimize designs is required. Familiarity with structural dynamics, earthquake engineering, and FEA modeling is considered a strong asset. Proficiency in application of Canadian Codes and Standards, including applicable building codes applicable in design of industrial buildings and site accommodations is necessary. Proficiency in structural engineering design software using SAP2000 and experience working with NavisWorks and SmartPlant would be considered an asset.
