Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecom System Planner to join our team at DTS Technical. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for designing and drafting all aspects of FTTH fiber-to-the-home and enterprise/commercial access networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creation of cable design plans, floor plans, site plans, and other drawings for new construction and upgrade/rebuild projects
  • Draft municipal consent civil drawings, illustrating proposed routing in relation to existing underground and aerial facilities
  • Preparation of fibre cable design plans, floor plans, site plans, splicing details, and other drawings for new enterprise/commercial construction projects
  • Field survey new and existing plant structures and routes for the purpose of field verification and estimation
  • Conduct site meetings with designer/surveyor and attend meetings with teams/customers to discuss project scope and strategies
  • Develop project-specific construction notes, material requirements, and identify associated labour tasks
  • Input project as-built information, update maps and databases at project completion

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in a comparable position (preferred)
  • Excellent command of AutoCAD
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong command of the English language, both spoken and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to clearly communicate with internal and external project teams
  • Detail-oriented with solid problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Multi-tasking ability; adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and resolve problems independently

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

  • CATV or Telecom industry experience, preferably in Construction and/or Planning
  • Professional AutoCAD experience
  • MS Visio experience
  • Ability to interpret technical material and plans
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical power, power distribution, power protection, and applicable code and industry practices
