Job Summary:

Dartmouth South Academy is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Program Assistant to join our team. As an Educational Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational programs and services at our academy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification is required; please ensure you have this certification or are registered for an upcoming course.
  • Light lifting (up to 20 pounds) and medium lifting (up to 50 pounds) are required.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification is also required.
  • You will be trained or willing to be trained in toileting, personal care, physiotherapy follow-up, seizure management, and behaviour management support.
  • Experience working with Down's Syndrome and Autism is an asset.

Rate of Pay:

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar, including time off at Christmas, March Break, and Summer break.

The starting annual salary for a 100% position is $35,817.70, including 4% vacation pay. Rates are based on a five-step scale with step increases occurring annually in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

EPAs are paid every two weeks with the annual salary paid across 12 months (August 1st to July 31st) for working a 10-month school year. The annual salary for term positions less than a school year is pro-rated over the length of the term.

Daily Hours of Work:

50% Position = 3.5 hours (includes one 15-minute paid break)

80% Position = 6.1 hours (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)

100% Position = 7.5 hours (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)
