We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Shelter Support Worker to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our community services team, you will provide essential support services to residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and document client needs, providing personalized support and care.
- Develop and implement individualized plans to address client goals and objectives.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery and effective communication.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social work, counseling, or a related field).
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening and First Aid certification.
- WHMIS training and a clear internal abuse registry check.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to crisis situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a non-judgmental attitude.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, including those with mental health issues or addictions.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Inuit cultures, as well as social issues affecting Indigenous communities.
- Computer skills and proficiency in software applications relevant to the role.
