We are seeking a skilled Deckhand to join our team at Océan Aqua, where you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient operation of our tugboats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in tug maneuvers, ensuring seamless docking and undocking procedures.
  • Berth and unberth tugs using cables, maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on the tug's interior fittings and bridges, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Position the gangway and oversee the safe transfer of personnel, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Connect ground power and perform other essential tasks to maintain the tug's facilities.
  • Clean, paint, and perform other required work to maintain the tug's appearance and functionality.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer with various tasks, providing support and expertise as needed.
  • Cook and maintain the kitchen, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all crew members.
  • Participate in and support the activities of our Health, Safety, and Environment Management System, upholding the highest standards of maritime safety and sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Certificates of competence: Basic Safety STCW-BS; Lifeboat and rescue boat operating skills other than fast rescue boats.
  • Valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada.
  • Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (RRO-M).
  • Bridge Watchman Certificate of Competency (asset).
  • Basic Marine First Aid Certificate (asset).
  • Three (3) to five (3) years of experience as a deckhand (asset).
  • Bilingualism in French and English, spoken and written (asset).
