Key Responsibilities:- Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures, ensuring the highest level of care for our residents.
- Complete all documentation accurately and on time, adhering to corporate policies and recognized nursing practices.
- Provide holistic, quality care to residents, consistent with RhynoCare's Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Assist with resident meal service, ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience.
- Support restorative nursing initiatives, promoting resident independence and well-being.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective completion of resident care during shifts and throughout the unit.
- Execute care in accordance with current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Document care delivered accurately and timely, adhering to legislation, regulations, and internal requirements.
- Support new staff and students in their mentoring and educational development.
- Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary team, and resident safety meetings.
- Promote good understanding and teamwork between shifts, registered and unregulated staff, and the collective agreement.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to speak a second language is considered an asset.
- Must meet one of the following criteria:
- Successful completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a Community College or a school approved by the National Association of Career Colleges OR
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy students with successful completion of Year 1
- Experience working as a Facility PSW is considered an asset.
- Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certificate.
- Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
- Valid Criminal Record Check confirming absence of a criminal history/record.
