Job Title: Educational Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Educational Support Assistant to join our team at Lethbridge School Division. As an Educational Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with exceptionalities and promoting a positive learning environment.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, students, and other support staff to provide targeted and specialized supports and services. This may include adapting tasks, implementing strategies to support socially appropriate behaviors, and attending to physical and medical needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with exceptionalities in a variety of settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and other school environments.
  • Develop and implement individualized programs and Positive Behavior Support Plans to support student success.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to share information, reflect on effectiveness of strategies, and suggest modifications to existing or novel strategies.
  • Provide personal care, lifting, and toileting support for students as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning and development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field, such as Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education, or Child and Youth Care, is an asset.
  • Experience working with students with exceptionalities and/or clients with behavioral challenges is necessary.
  • Training and/or experience in sign language, Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), and/or Hanen (Learning Language and Loving It/ABC & Beyond) is an asset.

Lethbridge School Division is committed to creating a safe and inclusive work environment. The successful candidate will be required to provide a police information check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, and a satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.

The wage range for this position is $21.63 - $23.99/hour, depending on education and experience. Enjoy having evenings, weekends, and school holidays off. Make a difference in a child's life.
