Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at Lethbridge School Division. As an Educational Assistant, you will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to provide targeted and specialized supports to students with diverse needs.

Your primary responsibilities will include assisting students with academic tasks, implementing strategies to support socially appropriate behaviors, and attending to physical and medical needs. You will also work closely with teachers to develop and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans and ensure student safety at all times.

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent communication skills, be able to build rapport with students and staff, and be adaptable in dynamic learning environments. Experience working with students with exceptionalities, particularly those with behavioral challenges and/or complex physical disabilities, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with academic tasks and implement strategies to support socially appropriate behaviors

  • Build rapport with students and staff in dynamic learning environments

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
  • Proof of police information check, including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Proof of Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services
  • Proof of photo identification
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number

Assets:

  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field, such as Educational Assistant or Early Childhood Education
  • Experience working with students and/or clients with exceptionalities
