Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Fuels Engineer to join our team. As a Fuels Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing the safety of submissions from clients for registration or variance to the design of fuels systems and devices in accordance with the provincial act, regulations, and adapted codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate system and device submissions to ensure compliance with Ontario Regulations and adapted codes and standards.
- Review TSSA application forms and confirm submitter's qualifications.
- Analyze technical drawings and calculations from submissions or site inspections.
- Follow up with clients to address outstanding information requirements or technical issues.
- Present and review submissions with internal committees as necessary.
- Extend approval through issuing of approvals, variances, and registrations as appropriate.
- Respond to client requests for consultation regarding regulations, codes, and standards.
- Collaborate with TSSA Inspectors and Investigators in safety incident investigations.
- Research changes to codes and standards and share with TSSA colleagues.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of internal process documentation.
- Identify and ensure compliance on fuel appliance recalls.
- Actively participate in promoting public safety through technical standard committees and industry association meetings.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent as defined by Prof. Eng. of Ont. (PEO).
- P.Eng. license is required.
- 3-5 years of engineering experience with a regulator or in the fuels industry.
- Propane experience, specifically with Mobile Food Trucks and Carts, is an asset.
- Sound knowledge of fuel devices and system design.
- Detailed knowledge of pertinent acts, regulations, and safety codes and standards.
- Skills in analyzing structural, mechanical, and electric drawings, manuals, PLC programming languages, and logic diagrams.
- Software application proficiency in Microsoft Office and databases.
