The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the organization, ensuring that all departments are functioning efficiently and effectively. This includes authorizing and organizing the establishment of major departments and associated senior staff positions, coordinating the work of regions, divisions, or departments, and establishing financial and administrative controls.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Authorize and organize the establishment of major departments and associated senior staff positions
  • Co-ordinate the work of regions, divisions, or departments
  • Establish financial and administrative controls; formulate and approve promotional campaigns; and approve overall human resources planning
  • Establish objectives for the organization and formulate or approve policies and programs
  • Represent the organization, or delegate representatives to act on behalf of the organization, in negotiations or other official functions
  • Select middle managers, directors, or other executive staff; delegate the necessary authority to them and create optimum working conditions
Requirements:
  • 5 years or more of experience in a senior executive role
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal awareness and team player skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage a large workload
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Office, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word
  • Ability to support newcomers and refugees with foreign credential recognition
  • Ability to provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth
  • Ability to facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers
  • Ability to apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination
  • Ability to apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities
