Responsibilities

As a Laboratory Assistant - Specimen Collection Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting patients, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring they follow necessary test protocols.
  • Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, and performing 24-hour blood pressure monitoring and ECG tracings.
  • Maintaining client relationships, responding to inquiries, and following up on requests.
  • Completing data entry of patient demographics, requisition information, and other relevant details.
  • Preparing specimens for transportation and testing.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience.
  • ECG training or experience is an asset.
  • Proficient data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
