Job Summary
Starlight Investments, a leading global real estate investment and asset management firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Manager to join their Western Canada Development team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of experienced development professionals to deliver on a substantial portfolio of residential and mixed-use projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the due diligence, feasibility analysis, and determination of development potential and investigation of existing permissions on subject sites.
- Lead the analysis of development potential based on amending permissions on subject sites.
- Develop and implement entitlement strategies, including municipal and agency approvals, official community plan amendments, zoning by-law amendments, variances to bylaws, and consents.
- Provide leadership in the preparation and tracking of Request for Proposals and comparative analysis on submitted proposals.
- Organize and coordinate external community and tenant meetings.
- Coordinate and track various development agreements with municipalities and external agencies.
- Review technical drawings and reports, along with the Construction team, before submission to the municipality and agency for completeness and to ensure specified criteria are being addressed.
- Responsible for project ideation through to permitting and all entitlements, working in collaboration with Investments, Construction, and Asset Management.
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly partner reports and cash flow reports.
- Assist with project-related presentations, printing, file management, and file sharing.
- Attend meetings and produce agenda and minutes, including action items for timely circulation to the project team.
- Lead the preparation and maintenance of project schedules and provide regular updates to projected timelines and associated internal tracking reports.
Qualifications
- University degree in Business, Engineering, or Urban Planning.
- 5 years of real estate development experience, including management of the approval processes, working with external consultants, municipalities, and other governmental agencies.
- Excellent knowledge of construction/architectural concepts and pro-formas and cash flows.
- Ability to lead and prioritize competing short and long-term deadlines.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
