Job Title: Student Services Counsellor

Aitchison College of Technology & Health Sciences Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Student Services Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our student support services, you will provide guidance and support to students, parents, and teachers to ensure a smooth and successful academic experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise teaching assistants and provide guidance on academic and personal matters
  • Counsel students on educational, career, and vocational issues, as well as personal and social concerns
  • Consult with teachers, parents, administrators, and community agencies to ensure comprehensive support
  • Coordinate the provision of counselling and information services to students, parents, and teachers
  • Administer and interpret standardized intelligence, aptitude, and interest tests
  • Refer students to specialized services when required and participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and workshops
  • Develop guidance and counselling programs, arrange for recruitment of graduating students, and supervise peer counselling programs
  • Visit colleges and secondary schools to provide academic information and prepare presentations for conferences, workshops, and symposia
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail
  • Basic security clearance
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including newcomers, refugees, and Indigenous peoples
  • Knowledge of government and community programs supporting youth employment, veterans, and mature workers
  • Ability to provide diversity and cross-cultural training and mentorship opportunities
