Key Responsibilities

As a Behaviour Intervention Specialist, you will be responsible for completing functional assessments and developing behaviour support plans. You will also conduct on-site observations, provide modelling, teaching, and/or support in the home or community, and develop and deliver training for caregivers and/or team members in behavioural intervention approaches and procedures.

Incident Response and Review

You will provide incident evaluation, response, and debriefing supports, adhering to Positive Behaviour Supports best practices, CET accreditation standards, and evidence-based practices. Additionally, you will participate in Behaviour Review Committees and other committees/meetings as required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Disability Studies, Behavioural Science, Special Needs, or a related field. You will also have experience with Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA), completing Comprehensive Functional Assessments, creating, writing, and implementing Positive Behavioural Support Plans, and experience with persons experiencing behavioural, social, and emotional disorders.

Travel and Transportation

You will be required to travel within the consultation area, with 50% of your time spent on the road. You will need a Class 5 driver's license, a suitable driver's abstract, and a reliable vehicle.

Personal Qualities

You will be a strong advocate for persons with developmental disabilities, dual diagnosis, acquired brain injury, FASD, and challenging behaviours. You will possess group facilitation, training, and teaching skills, and be able to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine, providing creative solutions.

Certifications and Training

A certification in Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA), Positive Behaviour Supports (PBS), or Triple P would be an asset.
