Job Summary

We are seeking Temporary Casual Student Nurse Externs to join our dynamic team at Humber River Health. As a Student Nurse Extern, you will provide direct personal support to patients, working under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting and develop your skills in patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic care to patients, including activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, and feeding.
  • Document patient care activities, including intake and output, and relevant communication.
  • Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Report any clinical concerns to your direct supervisor immediately.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program of studies.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to accurately and effectively communicate with healthcare team members.
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology and ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision.
