Modern Technical Staffing Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Construction Project Coordinator to join their team on a permanent full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction project management, with experience in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage project processes, including tender specifications, drafting, review of technical contracts, material orders, staffing projects, scheduling contractors, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with engineering firms, architects, and other services to determine project specifications, performing complete project reviews, creating SOWs, execution schedules, and design reviews prior to estimation and quotes.
- Analyze contracts for technical discrepancies, omissions, and additional submissions, negotiating contracts in partnership with onsite legal counsel.
- Obtain necessary permits and licenses, working with local agencies accordingly.
- Ensure proposed designs meet safety, technical, operational, commercial, maintenance, and quality requirements, defined in specifications, standards, and practices, and applicable regulatory codes.
- Hire contractors, general labor, and allocate resources in line with project timelines and budget, managing contractor performance and dealing with risks in partnership with the Executive Director, Director of Engineering, and legal counsel.
- Evaluate progress, providing required reporting to stakeholders through Gantt charting and project management tools.
- Conduct regular site reviews and meetings, ensuring minutes are distributed accordingly.
- Address deficiencies in a timely manner.
- College diploma or university degree in civil engineering is preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant working experience in a construction project coordinator role, with a minimum of 4 years in ICI construction in a management or supervisory role.
- PMP certification is an asset.
- In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and project management principles.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and project management.
- Strong knowledge of computer-aided design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D) and blueprint and design review.
- On-site experience and exposure to the construction industry.
- Experience managing projects from $500,000 to $15,000,000.
- Strong knowledge of the Construction Act and CCDC and CCA documents.
- Evidence of a "safety first" attitude.
