The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Youth Care Worker II to join our interdisciplinary care team in the Halifax Community Mental Health and Addictions program. As a member of our team, you will provide quality emotional and physical care to child/youth and their families, extending therapeutic support into community settings.

Under the direction and supervision of a regulated health professional, you will implement assigned aspects of a care plan, assess the impact of interventions, and contribute recommendations to the care team on changes to the care plan.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health and addiction disorders, and family systems approach. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional care team.

Responsibilities
  • Implement assigned aspects of a care plan
  • Assess the impact of interventions
  • Contribute recommendations to the care team on changes to the care plan
  • Provide quality emotional and physical care to child/youth and their families
  • Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement care plans
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care Studies or an undergraduate degree and a graduate from a 2-year accredited Child and Youth Care diploma program
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in mental health or related experience with children and adolescents
  • CYC Practitioner certification preferred
  • Successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) Program within the last 12 months or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate required
  • NVCI certification required
