Sinai Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Urology Nurse Specialist. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our staff and physicians to provide exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with patient clinics, chart preparation, and nursing duties such as catheterization, catheter care, pre and post op surgery teaching, and other duties as directed.
- Coordinate, deliver, supervise, and evaluate patient care.
- Systematically assess patients' physical and psychosocial needs.
- Assume responsibility for health education and counseling of patients.
- Assist patients and their families in identifying resources that lead to the maximum state of health.
- Plan, organize, and determine priorities in the giving of patient care.
- Active involvement in the overall coordination of patient care.
- Report and record accurately and appropriately, using electronic charting.
- Undertake triage responsibilities, including telephone triage.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate a broad range of patient care activities related to health promotion and chronic disease management.
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses' of Ontario.
- Current BCLS.
- BScN (preferred).
- Minimum of three (3) years recent urology, urologic, and oncology patient nursing experience.
- Excellent teaching skills experience that incorporates adult learning principles.
- Flexible with superior organization skills and the ability to work effectively to prioritize multiple, competing tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, make decisions, and take initiative while working with confidential patient information and responding to patient inquiries.
- Superior work ethic, professionalism, and reliability; excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to effectively convey factual information and detailed explanations.
- Sound knowledge base in urology, urologic procedures, surgeries, and patient care.
- Commitment to professional practice and personal development.
- Commitment to shared leadership and team-based decision making.
- Commitment to patient and family-centered care.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
