Job Description

The Addiction Nurse position at Vancouver Detox Centre offers a unique opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to provide high-quality care to clients presenting with substance use disorders and related problems. As an Addiction Nurse, you will be responsible for providing screening and assessment, direct nursing care, education, and counseling to clients.

You will collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other healthcare professionals/providers to achieve excellence in client-centered care and education. This role requires a strong knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centered model of care, as well as a broad understanding of chemical dependency and behavior management.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • A valid BC Driver's License may be required for local area travel
  • Broad knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses
  • Broad knowledge of facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques, and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
