About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Victoria's team as a Research Systems Dev-Ops Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and ensuring the operational effectiveness of the university's research servers and storage.
Key Responsibilities
- Determination and resolution of client and system-generated technical issues
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software
- Problem determination and resolution, resource allocation, performance, and security monitoring, and usage reporting
- Automation of administrative tasks and use of problem-solving skills to analyze and correct software and hardware problems
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline with broad exposure to systems analysis and web technologies
- At least three years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an academic or research environment
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or derivatives, scripting, and revision control (e.g., Bash, PERL, and Python, Git or Subversion)
- Proficiency in web-based applications, REST APIs, databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres), cloud computing environments, and Ansible and Terraform
