About the Role
Arrow Transportation Systems Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Foreman to join our team. As a Shop Foreman, you will be responsible for the productive and cost-effective management of our shop, overseeing the work of journeyman and apprentice level mechanics, and performing managerial and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor.
- Oversee, supervise, train, and/or assess 2 to 10 journeyman or apprentice level mechanics.
- Follows all required and associated rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure divisional fleet on-board systems have a high degree of serviceability.
- Make recommendations on parts and equipment specifications.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Provide routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, and mobile equipment.
- Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols, and established metrics.
- Participate in identifying hazards and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
- Check all equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Diagnose defects in all equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains, and final drives.
- Perform and assess incidental welding repairs on equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
- Operate automotive servicing equipment.
- Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Ability to operate the equipment that is serviced.
- Installation of new and added-on equipment.
- Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting diagnostics and repair.
- Repair cooling and lubrication systems.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize daily work.
- Accurate completion of work orders and time cards.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation on file.
Requirements
- A Journeyman's certificate or have Red Seal – Commercial Transport, Heavy Equipment, or Welder.
- Proven successful supervisory/people management experience.
- A positive attitude and continuous improvement mindset.

- Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics.

- Computer literate with understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning custom software applications.
- Must pass physical to ensure bonafide job requirements can be fulfilled.

Arrow Transportation Systems Inc is a leading transportation, distribution, and materials handling organization with over 100 years of experience. We offer a competitive pay rate, $50.50/hr, 40 hour work weeks, OT available, and a $2000 signing bonus for Red Sealed Journeymen. We also offer relocation assistance for the right candidate, pension, full benefits, flexible day shifts, 100% insurance paid on tools, boot allowance, and all other PPE supplied.
