Arrow Transportation Systems Inc is a leading provider of bulk commodity hauling, reload operations, freight management, logistics, consulting, and technology services throughout Canada and the U.S.

We are seeking an experienced Aluminum Welder to join our team at our Vancouver-based shipyard and boat repair service yard.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the welding service, maintenance, and repair of small to large marine vessels.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and welding aluminum using pulsed GMAW push-pull welding equipment in all positions to produce sound welds at a consistent rate.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, and welding process specifications.
  • Operating welding equipment and manual flame-cutting equipment.
  • Conducting repairs, modifications, and retrofits.
  • Monitoring parts usage and reporting on any material issues.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of changes in welding compliance, practices, and techniques.
  • Assisting the Supervisor/Foreman with insight and knowledge of superior repair methods, performing random maintenance on vessels, fabricating custom prototypes from supplied drawings in a high-paced production environment.
  • Maintaining equipment (e.g., washing and painting equipment).
  • Following proper procedures for tool maintenance, testing, and repairs.
  • Working in adherence to all safe work practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Suggesting changes in working conditions and the use of equipment to increase efficiency in the yard, shop, department, or work crew.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal or Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) tickets (minimum C ticket).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' of relevant experience required.
  • Proven All Position Welding abilities in Aluminum (CSA Standard W47.2) & MIG (GMAW) Processes.
  • Experience in Flux Core (FCAW) & Stick (SMAW) All Position Welding Processes will be considered an asset.

  • Must pass a physical to ensure bona-fide job requirements can be fulfilled.
