Lead Nuclear Physicist Position at AtkinsRéalis

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Petrophysicist to join our team in the Fuel and Physics department.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, review, and verify technical analyses using radiation transport codes, performing dose calculations, and applying activity transport models.
  2. Produce high-quality reports effectively summarizing complex technical information and present results to internal and/or external stakeholders.
  3. Collate, assimilate, and summarize results from existing analyses, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
  4. Maintain knowledge of relevant procedures, guidelines, and standards governing nuclear work, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  5. Design, adapt, or modify computer codes for specific applications, leveraging programming skills in Python, PERL, MATLAB, C++, or Fortran.
About the Ideal Candidate:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering Physics, or Nuclear Engineering, with post-graduate education preferred.
  2. 8+ years of experience in radiation transport, dose calculations, activity transport, shielding applications, waste management, and radioactivity dispersion.
  3. Proficiency in computer codes such as MCNP, SCALE/ORIGEN, or ADDAM, along with strong programming skills and familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  4. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to develop and deliver training effectively.
  5. Experience working at a nuclear facility, performing radiation transport and shielding calculations, and code development including source control and testing.
  6. Knowledge of the nuclear regulatory framework, including applicable codes and standards in Canada.

The estimated salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $180,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
