Job Title: Senior Principal Engineer, High-Speed ASIC and RFIC Systems

Lumentum Holdings is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Engineer to drive our high-speed ASIC, RFIC, and optoelectronic system strategy. In this critical role, you will define and lead the company strategy on DSPs, RFICs (TIA, Drivers), and optical systems; and connect this strategy into Lumentum's world-class optoelectronics components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Owns company-wide DSP, RFIC, and ASIC strategy.
  • Works closely with current ASIC partners to create differentiation for Lumentum products.
  • Drives long-term DSP and ASIC engagements for all forward-looking products.
  • Leads the architecture, design, and initial product definition for Lumentum's early-stage product concepts, making the appropriate tradeoffs between technical and business risk.
  • Acts as company authority on communication protocols (Ethernet, PCIe) and communication hardware standards (UCIe, BoW, SerDes).
  • Represents Lumentum at various standards and industry-leading events.
Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of experience in high-speed optoelectronics and ASIC design, with a proven track record of successful product development and deployment.
  • Extensive experience with high-speed circuit design, including RF, analog, and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Strong understanding of optical components such as lasers, photodetectors, modulators.
  • Excellent knowledge of photonics/electronics high-speed interfaces and ICs for photonics (TIA, Drivers, DSP).
  • Strong understanding of high-speed electrical and optical systems and software.
  • Experience with data communication protocols (Ethernet, PCIe, etc).
  • Experience engaging with various optical and electrical standards (UCIe, Ethernet).
  • Strong understanding of high-speed SerDes technology.
  • Excellent understanding of different modulation formats such as PAM4, Coherent.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and communication skills.
Education:
  • MS, PhD, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related field.

Pay Range: $152,000 - $218,000
