About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical-Legal Specialist to join our team at goeasy Ltd. As a key member of our Legal & Corporate Affairs group, you will provide expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of matters, including contract review and vendor management, negotiation and interpretation, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal and regulatory advice and guidance to the company on various matters, including contract review and vendor management, negotiation and interpretation, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Support and triage matters to the VP, Legal & Corporate Affairs, and lead legal process and review in the area of vendor management and work with cross-functional teams across the vendor lifecycle.
  • Lead legal review in the areas of consumer protection, privacy, and customer resolutions, and conduct legal research on areas impacting the business.
  • Develop a strong and effective working relationship with all levels of Management to provide proper direction, influence, and counsel with respect to legal matters.
  • Apprise the Chief Legal Officer of issues, opportunities, and threats related to legal items that arise, and advise on complex legal matters and effectively tailor recommendations and solutions to meet business goals.
  • Identify opportunities and issues that arise, and support the Director, Legal & Corporate Affairs, and Chief Legal Officer in providing creative and business-oriented options and solutions.
  • Support existing and new service offerings, mergers and acquisitions, partnership and sponsorship initiatives and proposals, and support the Chief Legal Officer in the areas of corporate governance and corporate policies.
  • Support legal proceedings, whether by or against the company, to safeguard the legitimate interest of the company, and provide practical and pragmatic legal opinions covering a wide range of functional areas as required.
  • Support the Legal & Corporate Affairs group in the maintenance and administration of all corporate records and registrations.
Requirements
  • 2-4 years of working experience, preferably in a dynamic corporate legal department.
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, with demonstrated expertise in all relevant areas of the law.
  • Superior relationship building skills and proven success in connecting with different functional areas.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and other business-related software.
