Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing ultrasound procedures on various sections of the body, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, small parts, and echocardiography.

Responsibilities

  • Performing ultrasound procedures using specialized equipment and techniques
  • Preparing patients for testing by explaining procedures and monitoring their comfort level
  • Receiving and completing requisitions, reviewing patient case history, and correlating clinical history with examination to be performed
  • Entering patient information into the diagnostic imaging information system and image processing systems as required
  • Assisting in procedural rooms, setting up biopsy trays, and assisting radiologists or cardiologists with interventional procedures

Requirements

  • Diploma in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography from a recognized training program
  • Certification with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or applicable experience working in IV Therapy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
