Job Summary

The Ambulatory Care Manager is a key member of the management team at Mackenzie Health, responsible for the coordination and direction of the Ambulatory Clinics. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure high-quality, effective, and efficient services and care are provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, and manage staff to ensure the best possible team is in place.
  • Oversee the operations of the ambulatory clinics, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Monitor and respond to quality, safety, risk, and performance indicators to ensure the highest standards are met.
  • Provide leadership and support to teams, assuming management accountability when necessary.
  • Cultivate effective inter-professional relationships at all levels.
  • Identify issues and challenges, monitoring trends and implementing targeted interventions and changes in practice patterns or processes.
  • Work collaboratively with program leaders to achieve performance targets, manage risk, improve quality and safety, and advance patient care outcomes.
  • Reduce waste, add value, raise standards, improve effectiveness, and deliver high performance.
  • Coach, mentor, facilitate, and support the creation and maintenance of an environment that fosters creativity and professional judgment.
  • Facilitate and motivate individuals to realize performance within their scope of practice.
  • Create an environment that empowers individuals to take ownership and responsibility for their actions, promoting staff initiative and nurturing higher morale.
  • Prioritize and organize project deliverables to ensure timely completion in accordance with project timelines.
  • Manage the utilization of program resources and make operational decisions within the approved budget and business plan.
  • Complete management reports addressing program issues and variance from approved budget, including strategies to match available resources with patient need.
  • Develop capacity management strategies as the basis for cost-effective resource allocation and utilization.
  • Demonstrate relevant ongoing professional development and continuing learning.
  • Lead program-based and corporate initiatives to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness that maintain or improve quality of patient care.
  • Monitor performance and take appropriate action to respond to performance management issues on a timely basis, according to Hospital policies and procedures and relevant legislation and liaise with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and the organization's health and safety plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to, patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies, and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Completion of Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years clinical frontline leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Nursing or related field.
