Position Overview:
At Kerry's Place Autism Services, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As an Autism Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing services that maximize the health and safety and personal fulfillment of persons diagnosed with ASD.

About the Role:
Reporting to Manager, Services and Supports, the Autism Support Assistant will provide services that maximize the health and safety and personal fulfillment of persons diagnosed with ASD. Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing coaching and support in the areas of social skills, communication, and leisure activities.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with families, supports, and community members.
  • Administering medication as per procedure.
  • FOLLOWING Behavioral and Crisis Protocols as documented.

Education and Experience Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University or a Personal Support Worker certificate from a Community College or from a registered and Ministry approved Private Career College; OR completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and 1 year of related experience (preferably supporting people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder).

Knowledge Requirements:
The Autism Support Assistant will possess solid written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team. They will also have the ability to physically support adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification, as well as perform the required physical techniques. Training will be provided at no cost. A valid Driver's License, with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle is required and proof of third party liability insurance coverage. As a condition of employment, employees must be able to provide a Driver's Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points.
