The Fort McKay First Nation is seeking a skilled Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to join their team in Fort McKay, AB. This full-time permanent position comes with an estimated salary of $85,000 - $110,000 per year.

This role plays a crucial part in supporting the conservation and protection of Fort McKay First Nation's reserve lands. As a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for developing community and commercial/industrial environmental management plans, supporting sustainable community land and resource development, and monitoring land-based activities for compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and policies.

Key responsibilities include coordinating environmental impact assessment (EIA) processes, managing environmental site assessments, leading on-reserve environmental management, conservation, and protection programs, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and policies.

You will also be responsible for writing environmental monitoring summaries, contributing to weekly reports, monthly reports, briefing notes, presentations, Requests for Decision, QGM/AGM reports, and other required reporting. Additionally, you will conduct fuel tank compliance inspections, provide reports to tenants, and liaise with government agencies and stakeholders on various environmental initiatives.

Furthermore, you will maintain detailed and organized records for all meetings, review invoices for contractors, attend meetings within and outside the community, update task tracking databases regularly, and ensure documentation, correspondence, and reports are appropriately saved and filed in the FMFN network drive or equivalent.

To succeed in this role, you must have a university degree in Environmental Science, Reclamation, or a similar discipline, and at least 3 years of related land/environment management experience. A Transport Canada Basic or Advanced drone (RPAS) pilot certificate and possession of a Pleasure Craft Operator Card are assets. You must also possess strong computer skills (MS Office Suite) and the ability to learn new software applications and platforms.
