About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at Fort McKay First Nation. As a key member of our Environmental and Regulatory team, you will play a critical role in supporting the conservation and protection of our reserve lands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate environmental impact assessments and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans and strategies to minimize the impact of human activities on the environment.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor compliance with environmental regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, stakeholders, and other departments to advance environmental initiatives and protect our lands.
  • Develop and maintain databases and records related to environmental monitoring and compliance.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to the Environmental and Regulatory team on environmental matters.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in environmental legislation and regulations and provide recommendations for updates to our policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • University degree in Environmental Science, Reclamation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
