We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investigator to join our team at the Manitoba Ombudsman. As an Investigator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that public bodies and institutions are accountable to the people of Manitoba.

About the Role:

The Investigator will be responsible for conducting thorough and impartial investigations into complaints under The Ombudsman Act, The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), and The Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower Protection) Act (PIDA). You will work closely with the Manager of Investigations to identify areas of concern and develop strategies to address them.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations into complaints and allegations of wrongdoing
  • Review and analyze evidence, including documents, records, and testimony
  • Develop and implement strategies to address systemic issues and improve compliance
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations for the Ombudsman
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to achieve shared goals
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field, such as law, public administration, or social sciences
  • Several years of experience in investigation, compliance, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
