Building Maintenance Specialist

About the Role
The Building Maintenance Technician is a key member of our facilities team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This includes performing routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, as well as responding to service requests and conducting facility walkthroughs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance on facility mechanical and electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Respond to service requests and perform corrective maintenance as needed.
- Conduct facility walkthroughs to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Operate and maintain facility mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC and plumbing.
- Manage work orders and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs and ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
- Experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating ventilation and air conditions systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
- Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
- Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
- Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
- Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise.
- Must strictly adhere to Health and Safety policies including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Must be capable of obtaining appropriate security clearance.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- Power Engineer Certification, or willing to obtain certification upon hire.
- Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution required.
