Senior Designer - Men's Mountain

At Arc'teryx, we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Designer to join our team and drive the design vision for our Men's Mountain product. As a key member of our design team, you'll be responsible for creating advanced, comprehensive apparel solutions that exceed our guests' evolving needs.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team of builders, problem solvers, and passionate outdoor enthusiasts. As a Senior Designer, you'll collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to establish and drive the vision and long-term design strategy for Arc'teryx Mountain product. You'll lead and mentor a small group of high-performing Designers and Design Developers to create comprehensive design solutions that meet end-user expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to establish and drive the vision and long-term design strategy for Arc'teryx Mountain product
  • Lead and mentor a small group of high-performing Designers and Design Developers to create comprehensive design solutions that meet end-user expectations
  • Adhere to Arc'teryx Sustainability Design Principles while contributing to future improvements
  • Identify and create innovative performance or technology platforms that underpin product categories, with an emphasis on seamless knit construction
  • Drive the commercialization of innovative technologies, including materials, pattern/part shaping, and construction techniques for existing and future product categories
  • Create patterns, mock-ups, and prototypes to explore, resolve, or prove new concepts or construction techniques
  • Collaborate with the Fit & Pattern Team to resolve fit style and construction issues and ensure a fully commercialized product
  • Coordinate with the Materials team to test new materials and ensure that necessary items are available for prototyping
  • Collaborate closely with other Designers to create and bring new and better toolbox solutions that benefit the brand (such as new technologies, construction techniques, features, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising team and Design Directors on seasonal line plans and project resource planning
  • Partner with Product Development to gain visibility into cost estimates, MOQs, and LOM concerns throughout concepting and prototyping for seasonal products
  • Collaborate with leadership and People & Culture to establish and retain Design talent
What You'll Be Working On

In the future, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with Design leadership and our Merchandising teams to craft a strategic plan for Mountain Run apparel at Arc'teryx. You'll collaborate with various design activity leaders to identify new product opportunities and propose product solutions. You'll also work closely with our Product Development teams and innovation partnerships to challenge and evolve the way we bring innovative ideas to production.

Requirements
  • 8+ years' experience designing relevant textile-based products, with 2+ years' experience leading a team
  • Advanced knowledge in design, patterning, sewing, and garment construction, with advanced technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype new products
  • Excellent team player with the ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and mentor and develop team members
  • Hands-on experience creating tools and construction methods to assist in solving construction issues
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Technically proficient using CL03D, Adobe Illustrator, Gerber, or equivalent pattern software
  • Innovative problem solver with a focus on collaborative team work
  • Proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
  • Remains highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity

Salary: CAD$117,000 - CAD$130,000 per year. Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
