Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter Specialist to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the fabrication of piping systems and their components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and install piping/equipment supports, brackets, guides.
  • Fit up and prepare piping requiring welded joints.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing systems, hydronic heating systems, and other piping infrastructure.
  • Perform filter changes on hydronic heating systems, control air, and air-handling units.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior team members.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
  • Measure, cut, and thread pipes to required shape using hand and power tools.
  • Weld, tack, and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system.
  • Install supports, valves, and piping.
  • Test systems for leaks using testing equipment.
  • Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings, and flush systems.
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate systems.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Johnson Controls' safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.

Requirements

  • Steamfitter – Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Journeyman Pipefitter.
  • First-aid certification is an asset.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Receptive to change and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Makes suggestions for improvement.
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
  • Treats others with respect and avoids unnecessary conflict.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work with tools.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 50 lbs for 50 feet.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
