Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist

SMS Equipment Inc. is growing and we are looking for Resident Heavy Equipment Technicians - Edson/Hinton with Journeyperson certification to join our team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of maintaining and repairing the largest, most advanced earthmoving equipment, ensuring they and the industry they serve continue to move forward.

The shift rotation for this position is 5x2, with relocation assistance available. You will be well-compensated, with an hourly rate of $56.98 per hour inclusive of base rate and premiums, increasing to $59.55 per hour after one year of service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs, and complete overhauls on heavy equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment.
  • Providing recommendations and suggestions for repair and improvement.
  • Interpreting work orders and technical manuals.
  • Completing job-specific reports and paperwork.
  • Ensuring a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
  • Maintaining a motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
  • Working remotely in adverse weather conditions, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications:

  • Possessing a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Experience in repairing construction, forestry, and utility equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
