Key Responsibilities:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse at Verve Senior Living, you will be responsible for participating in and adhering to continuous quality improvement standards. You will also participate in assessing the needs of individual residents and organizing care plans to promote maximum resident independence.

Accountability Objective:

The LPN position is focused on enriching residents' lives by ensuring they can make their own choices and lead full lives as independently as they can. You will act as the team leader for resident care and assist in directing LPNs in all levels of care.

Background/Qualifications:

Minimum of grade 12 education required. Has obtained a recognized nursing license (LPN licensing) and in good standing with College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Certified in Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications, required. Previous experience working as an LPN in a healthcare setting is considered an asset.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language, nurturing excellent human relations with residents, families, and other team members.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to evaluate and meet resident care needs, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable, responsible, and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
  • Resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of the residence.
  • Has demonstrated excellent leadership skills.
  • Must have proficient computer skills (i.e., Word and Excel).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in the development of, and implementation of, a care plan for residents that supports independence.
  • Keeps the Health & Wellness Manager informed of staff member performance.
  • Assists in monitoring and evaluating outcome of specific interventions regularly and offers information or suggestions for improvement.
  • Provides ongoing support to co-workers and acts as advocate for residents and families to ensure residents' rights are protected.
  • Utilizes equipment and supplies effectively and in accordance with policies and procedures, manufacturer's instructions, and health and safety regulations.
