Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice Technician AVN

Job Overview:

The Apprentice Technician AVN performs first and second line aircraft maintenance under the guidance and supervision of journeyperson technicians, supporting Canadian Search and Rescue operations.

As part of their development to journeyperson, apprentices will be enrolled through the Canadian Council for Aerospace and Aviation or a similar institute and utilize a log book for development tracking and certification purposes.

Duties include conducting On Job Experience and On Job Training for Servicing Tasks, Elementary Tasks, and Work, including aircraft documentation, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, testing, and certification of aircraft mechanical, structural, and electrical systems and components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre and post-flight inspection and support, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling, and defueling.
  • Flying in support of maintenance, ferry, and deployment operations.
  • Travel and work at other main operating bases, deployments, and remote sites.
  • Receiving on-job-training from other employees to progress through apprenticeship to journeyperson.
  • Attending training at various locations for apprentice development, trade, airworthiness, and personnel development.
  • Sweeping and cleaning hangar, shop, stores, and office areas.
  • Adhering to policies, procedures, and directives established by the Company.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a recognized college basic aircraft maintenance program or equivalent Canadian Armed Forces basic aircraft maintenance program.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
  • Ability to use standard computer programs and specialized ones as necessary.
  • Eligibility to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Secret Level II Security Clearance.
