Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to join our team as the Director of Indigenous Strategy and Sr Advisor on Indigenous Relations.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and senior-level advice on cultivating a foundation for meaningful Indigenization and decolonization at George Brown College.
You will also lead the development and implementation of a college-wide Indigenous Education Strategy, integrating Indigenous frameworks, practices, and ways of knowing in alignment with the College Vision, Mandate, and Values.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and senior-level advice on cultivating a foundation for meaningful Indigenization and decolonization at George Brown College.
- Lead the development and implementation of a college-wide Indigenous Education Strategy that integrates Indigenous frameworks, practices, and ways of knowing in alignment with the College Vision, Mandate, and Values.
- Strengthen ongoing decolonization efforts at GBC by supporting recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit (MMIW2S) movement, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
- Foster an inclusive academic and social environment that establishes the College as a leader in Indigenous education and services by prioritizing Indigenous rights, knowledges, and practices.
