About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Clinician to join our SchoolsPlus initiative. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide vital mental health services directly in the school community environment within designated schools.

Job Summary
  • Full-time, long-term assignment with approximately 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Ongoing service provision with potential for contract renewal
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions based on care plans to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
  • Collaborate with families to share information and implement family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of individuals living with mental illness and addiction
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment/intervention, and non-violent crisis intervention
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and programs to enhance client outcomes
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology, Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy)
  • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
  • Two years' related clinical experience required (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning)
  • Knowledge of standard criteria used (DSM V) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple tasks
  • High level of written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution
Compensation and Benefits

Clinical Therapist: $37.31 - $49.05 hourly
Clinical Therapist (Developmental): $33.27 - $42.01 hourly
