About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our team in the Northern Zone, Aberdeen Hospital. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide mental health services directly in the school community environment within designated SchoolsPlus schools.

The SchoolsPlus model is a collaborative approach that focuses on educating and providing services to children and their families, with the school at the center of the service. As a SchoolsPlus Mental Health clinician, you will work closely with the school-based multidisciplinary team to plan, develop, provide, and evaluate mental health services for the assigned population in designated school settings.

Your primary responsibilities will include early identification and intervention of mental health disorders for children and adolescents within the school population, as well as acting as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Therapist who possesses a Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline and current registration with the relevant provincial regulatory body. You will have a minimum of two years' related clinical experience, including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning.

Key qualifications include demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders, as well as the ability to provide individual and group evidence-informed therapies based on care plans to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders.

You will also possess excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in multiple software applications. A high level of written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as experience with conflict resolution, are essential.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position, with 75 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate for this position is $37.31 - $49.05, with the possibility of eligibility for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
