Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Manager

Halifax Water is seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of our wastewater treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and supervise staff in the day-to-day operation of the wastewater treatment systems.
  • Develop and implement emergency plans, including environmental emergency plans, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
  • Participate in management activities, including hiring, performance management, attendance management, discipline, and labour relations matters.
  • Review design criteria, provide design input, and participate in consultant evaluations.
  • Assist in the development of business plans and participate on the WWT core advisory team.
  • Initiate or recommend special projects to improve the performance, efficiency, and effectiveness of the wastewater treatment section.
  • Coordinate Capital Budget and Operations Budget processes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, such as Engineering or Environmental Science, with 5 years of experience in stormwater, wastewater, and other municipal systems.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in a discipline related to wastewater treatment, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate (Level IV) issued by Nova Scotia Department of Environment.
