At Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis, we are seeking experienced Crisis Counsellors to provide critical support services to women and gender-diverse individuals affected by violence. As a valued member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive care, empowering clients to regain control over their lives.
Job SummaryThis casual position involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver crisis intervention, counselling, and support services to clients. You will be responsible for providing trauma-informed support, navigating complex systems, and connecting clients with essential community resources.
About the Role- Provide individual and group support to clients experiencing gender-based violence, including sexual, domestic, and human trafficking.
- Deliver crisis intervention and crisis counselling services to hotline callers and shelter clients.
- Navigate various systems and services on behalf of clients, ensuring seamless access to vital resources.
- Develop and facilitate programming, advocacy, and accompaniment services tailored to meet client needs.
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Counselling, or an equivalent field.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working with women, gender-diverse individuals, and children.
- Specialized training in sexual violence counselling, childhood sexual abuse issues, and human trafficking.
- Proven ability in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, trauma-informed approaches, harm reduction, and advocacy for survivors of violence.
- Familiarity with child development, effects of exposure to violence on children, and positive parenting strategies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of violence on women, gender-diverse individuals, and children.
- Solid administration and organizational skills, with strong computer competency.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $64 per hour, plus benefits.
Work EnvironmentThis is a casual position, requiring flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, statutory, and holiday periods.
