Research Assistant Opportunity

Brock University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support a longitudinal mixed-methods study exploring the experiences and perspectives of older adults co-adapting with voice-activated virtual assistants (VAVAs) to support their aging in place goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to the project research associate and researchers team to collect, analyze, and disseminate data
  • Recruit, screen, and enroll research participants
  • Train and provide technical support for the use of the Google voice-activated virtual assistant (on the Google Nest Hub Max smart speaker)
  • Conduct semi-structured interviews with research participants
  • Participate in the analysis of collected qualitative and quantitative survey data
  • Create and write knowledge translation outputs for community and academic audiences
Requirements:
  • Master's student with strong experience and/or training in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis
  • Ability to travel to research participants' homes for initial installation of the smart speaker
  • Proficient in using SPSS and NVivo or similar types of analytical software
  • Excellent written communication skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
