About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Markets Correspondent to join our team at Carbon Pulse. As a key member of our editorial team, you will be responsible for providing in-depth coverage of carbon markets, climate policies, and environmental regulations across North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting: Cover environmental markets, GHG pricing initiatives, and climate policies across the Americas, with a focus on compliance carbon markets, existing or emerging carbon markets, and international compliance mechanisms.
  • Editing: Share responsibility for editing, proof-reading, and sending out Carbon Pulse's email-based newsletters, as well as sub-editing duties, checking copy from colleagues.
  • Research: Conduct research and analysis to identify trends and emerging stories in the carbon markets and climate policy space.
  • Writing: Write high-quality, engaging articles and reports on carbon markets and climate policy, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and insight.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in carbon markets, climate policy, and/or financial journalism.
  • Markets: Strong understanding of financial markets and environmental markets, with a focus on carbon pricing initiatives and climate change policies.
  • Policy: Ability to follow and report on policy developments across various jurisdictions and market segments.
  • Writing ability: Strong English skills, with the ability to write engaging and accurate articles and reports.
  • Team player: Ability to work effectively in a team, with a focus on collaboration and communication.
  • Organised: Ability to manage time, attend regular news-planning meetings, and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Networking: Ability to build and maintain a network of contacts in the carbon markets and climate policy space.
  • Analytical: Ability to analyse and manipulate data, with a talent for identifying trends and converting them into stories.
