About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Strategic Director of Government Relations to drive our strategy and shape international education policies in Canada.

As part of IDP's leadership team, you will play a crucial role in influencing legislation and building key partnerships with government bodies and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead comprehensive external relations and government affairs strategies to build relationships with Canadian government bodies and policymakers.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory trends in education, technology, immigration, and skills development, identifying opportunities and challenges that could impact IDP's operations.
  • Engage with government officials to advocate for policies that advance international education and provide insightful analysis and recommendations to partners on policy changes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including government agencies and industry associations, to support IDP's strategic objectives.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team that will deliver IDP's strategic objectives.
Requirements
  • A politically astute background in Canadian government affairs, relations, or public policy advising, with a deep understanding of the political and policymaking landscape.
  • Experience advising senior leaders and spearheading external relations and government communications strategies, with a track record of aligning these strategies with organizational objectives.

The ideal candidate is located in Ottawa/Toronto and has an extensive network of contacts within the Canadian government and education sector.
