Fleet Equipment Maintenance Professional

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Equipment Maintenance Professional to join our team at GFL Environmental. As a key member of our fleet maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of our heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment, adhering to strict safety protocols and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair complex problems with heavy-duty diesel trucks, vacuum trucks, and power wash units, utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain and repair heavy-duty diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated equipment and vehicles, adhering to safety protocols and industry standards.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports, work orders, and purchase requisitions, ensuring accurate records and efficient inventory management.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules, utilizing M5 planner and procuring necessary parts to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Collaborate with colleagues to review mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedules, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
- Implement and enforce safe working practices, adhering to regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Operate and maintain various power and hand tools, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
- Possess, provide, and maintain tools necessary to perform tasks related to maintenance on heavy/hydraulic equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, ensuring a safe and respectful work environment.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new employees, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a working knowledge of and keep up with the latest technology through the use of technical manuals and attendance of technical training seminars and testing.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a diesel mechanic.
- Experience using diagnostic software a plus.
- Must be computer literate, have the ability to be trained on software systems, and the willingness to learn.
- Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
